The first light
As the first light of dawn spreads across the familiar HDB blocks, the neighbourhood slowly comes alive. A few kitchen lights glow warmly through the windows. Birds begin their morning chorus. The corridors are still quiet, while a handful of early risers prepare for another ordinary day.
For many of us, these sights bring back memories of growing up in Singapore—walking to school in the cool morning air, parents preparing breakfast before work, neighbours greeting one another, and the comforting rhythm of everyday life. They may have seemed like ordinary moments then, but they were quiet reminders of God’s faithful care.
Each new day is a gift from God. Before we rise, before the busyness begins, and before we take our first step, God has already gone before us. His mercies are new every morning, His grace is sufficient for today, and His presence remains constant through every season of life.
As the sun rises over the homes around you, pause for a moment and give thanks. The same God who faithfully watched over you yesterday is with you today. He continues to provide for your needs, guide your steps, surround you with His love, and gently unfold His blessings—one new day at a time.

Bible Verse:
It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed,
because his compassion doesn’t fail.
They are new every morning.
Great is your faithfulness.
