Rainbow

There is something wonderfully uplifting about seeing a rainbow appear in the sky after a shower. Most of us cannot resist stopping for a moment to admire it, and our excitement grows even more when a beautiful double rainbow appears. Perhaps it is because a rainbow often arrives just when the rain is easing, when the dark clouds begin to break and the light slowly returns. It gives us a sense that the storm is passing and that we can once again step outside, continue our journey, or simply enjoy the beauty before us. These unexpected moments of beauty have a way of stirring memories and filling our hearts with quiet wonder.

For many of us, the rainbow immediately brings to mind the story of Noah and God’s covenant. What a beautiful reminder that God chose something visible in His creation to point His people back to His promise. Every time we see a rainbow, we can pause and remember that our God is a covenant-keeping God. His promises do not change with our circumstances, and His faithfulness does not disappear when the skies of life become dark. The rainbow becomes more than a beautiful display of colour—it becomes a gentle reminder that God remembers, God cares, and God remains faithful.

Life, like the weather, moves through changing seasons. There are days filled with sunshine, laughter, and celebration, but there are also seasons of disappointment, uncertainty, loss, and tears. Sometimes the storm seems to last much longer than we expected, and we wonder when the clouds will finally lift. Yet God’s grace remains present through every season. He does not promise that we will never encounter storms, but He assures us that we will never face them alone. His love remains steadfast, His mercies are new every morning, and His presence continues to hold us even when we cannot yet see what lies ahead.

Looking back over our own lives, we may discover many “rainbows” that appeared after difficult seasons, a prayer that was eventually answered, a door that opened at the right time, a friend who came alongside us, unexpected provision when we needed it most, or simply the strength to face another day. At the time, we may not have recognised these moments as God’s grace. But with the gift of hindsight, we begin to see how faithfully He was guiding, protecting, and sustaining us. What once seemed like an ordinary moment may now appear as a beautiful reminder that His hand was quietly at work.

One of God’s greatest blessings is the assurance that His promises remain true regardless of what lies before us. The rainbow does not mean that there will never be another storm; rather, it reminds us that the storm is not the end of the story. In the same way, our difficult seasons do not define our whole journey. Beyond the clouds, God’s grace is still present, and His faithfulness is still holding us. He often strengthens us through the love of family, the companionship of friends, and the encouragement of fellow believers who walk beside us when our own hope feels weak.

May we learn to look for God’s “rainbows” along our journey, not only in the sky, but also in the people, opportunities, answered prayers, unexpected blessings, and quiet moments of grace He places in our lives. And when we see someone walking through a storm of their own, may we become a little rainbow in their lives, a word of encouragement, a listening ear, a helping hand, or simply a reminder that they are not alone. As we have received God’s grace and faithfulness, may we carry that same hope and love to others, trusting that even after the darkest rain, God’s light continues to shine.
