Week 14

Serving others

The sight of a hawker uncle serving a regular customer may bring back fond memories of favourite neighbourhood food stalls, warm greetings, and meals shared with family and friends. He may have known your usual order by heart and welcomed you with a smile that made you feel right at home. These simple moments remind us that the ordinary routines of life are often filled with extraordinary kindness.

Looking back, we can see how richly God has blessed us through the faithful service of others. Day after day, people have quietly worked with diligence and care to provide for our needs, often without seeking recognition or praise. Through their faithful hands and generous hearts, God has brought nourishment, comfort, and a sense of belonging into our lives. Their quiet dedication reminds us that every act of service, no matter how small, has the power to brighten someone’s day and reflect His love.

As we begin this new day, may we remember that faithfulness is not measured by the size of our task but by the love with which we serve. Just as God has blessed us through the quiet faithfulness of others, may we also serve those around us with kindness, humility, and a willing heart. May our lives become a source of encouragement, reflecting Christ’s love wherever He places us.

Bible Verse:

But it shall not be so among you, but whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant.

Mark 10:43 WEB

Blessings:

God has blessed us with people who faithfully served us in ordinary ways. Through their kindness, diligence, and generosity, we have experienced His provision, His care, and His love throughout our lives.

Reflection Point:

God often blesses our lives through the faithful service of ordinary people. Their daily acts of kindness remind us that faithfulness, offered with love, becomes a powerful testimony of God’s care.

Reflection Question:

Who has quietly served and blessed my life through their faithfulness? How can I honour their example by serving someone with the same kindness and humility today?

Action to Consider for this week:

Take time to thank someone whose faithful service often goes unnoticed—a hawker, cleaner, security officer, colleague, volunteer, or neighbour. Then look for one opportunity to serve someone quietly, expecting nothing in return. Let your faithfulness become a reflection of God’s love.
