Week 13

Walking in the shade

Walking beneath the wide branches of a rain tree along a shaded pathway may bring back sweet memories of quieter days—walking home from school, taking an evening stroll with loved ones, or finding relief from the hot afternoon sun. In those simple moments, the cool shade offered comfort and protection, making the journey a little easier.

Looking back, we can see that God has been our shelter in countless ways. He has watched over us through dangers we never knew, guided us along uncertain paths, and carried us through seasons of difficulty with His unfailing love. Like the shade of a great tree, His presence has refreshed us when we were weary, protected us when we felt vulnerable, and reminded us that we have never walked through life alone. Many of His greatest acts of protection were quiet and unseen, yet they have been with us every step of the way.

As we begin this new day, may we rest in the assurance that God remains our refuge and protector. Whatever lies ahead, we can walk forward with confidence, knowing that the One who has faithfully watched over us in the past will continue to guide and care for us. Having received His loving protection, may we also become a source of comfort, encouragement, and care for those who are walking through difficult seasons.

Bible Verse:

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalm 91:1 WEB

Blessings:

We can see that God has blessed us with His faithful protection. He has watched over us in ways we often never noticed, guided our steps when the path was uncertain, sheltered us in difficult seasons, and surrounded us with His loving presence every day.

Reflection Point:

God’s protection is often quiet and unseen. As we look back, we discover that His faithful presence has sheltered, guided, and sustained us far more than we ever realised.

Reflection Question:

When I reflect on my life, where can I see God’s protecting hand and faithful care? How can I become a source of shelter, encouragement, or support for someone who may be feeling vulnerable today?

Action to Consider for this week:

Look for someone who may be carrying a burden or facing uncertainty. Offer a listening ear, a word of encouragement, practical help, or a prayer. Let your kindness become a small reflection of the shelter and care God has faithfully given you.
