Week 17

Tender care

Watching people come together to restore a community garden is a beautiful picture of hope. As they clear away weeds, loosen the soil, plant new seedlings, and patiently tend each growing plant, they remind us that beautiful things rarely happen overnight. Growth requires time, care, perseverance, and many willing hands.

The scene may bring back memories of helping your parents or grandparents water plants, growing vegetables in the backyard, or simply watching flowers bloom after weeks of patient waiting. You may also remember neighbours working side by side to care for shared spaces, teaching us that when people serve together with love, both lives and communities begin to flourish.

Our own lives are much like a garden. There have been seasons of joy and seasons of struggle, times of waiting and times of new beginnings. Yet through every season, God has never stopped tending our lives. Patiently and faithfully, He has nurtured our faith, shaped our character, strengthened us through difficulties, and surrounded us with people whose encouragement has helped us continue growing. Looking back, we can see that every challenge, every lesson, and every blessing has been part of His loving work within us.

God’s blessings are often like seeds. At first they may seem small or even unnoticed, but in time they bear fruit beyond what we could have imagined. Every opportunity to learn, every meaningful friendship, every act of kindness we have received, and every prayer God has answered has become part of the beautiful garden He is cultivating within us.

As we continue to grow in God’s grace, He also invites us to help cultivate growth in the lives of others. A kind word, patient encouragement, a helping hand, or simply being present for someone may become the seed that God uses to bring hope and renewal. Just as volunteers restore a neglected garden so it can flourish once again, God can use each of us to bring life, beauty, and encouragement wherever He plants us.

May this image remind us that although growth takes time, God is always at work. The One who planted His grace in our hearts will faithfully continue to nurture us until our lives bear fruit that brings glory to Him and becomes a blessing to many.

Bible Verse:

being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6 WEB

Blessings:

God has blessed us with His patient guidance, faithful presence, and countless opportunities to grow. Through every season of life, He continues to shape us, strengthen us, and bear good fruit in our lives.

Reflection Point:

God patiently nurtures our lives, causing us to grow in faith, character, and love. As we have received His care, He calls us to encourage growth in others.

Reflection Question:

How have I seen God helping me grow over the years, and who can I encourage or invest in so they too may flourish?

Action to Consider for this week:

Plant a seed of encouragement in someone’s life. Write a thoughtful note, mentor a younger person, help someone learn a new skill, or spend time with someone who needs hope. Trust God to use even your smallest act of kindness to help someone grow.
