Week 26

Finding shelter

Many of us remember being caught in a sudden tropical downpour and hurrying beneath the covered walkways of the old shophouses. We would stand together with strangers, listening to the steady rhythm of the rain, waiting patiently until the storm passed. Those few moments of shelter brought a quiet sense of comfort and relief.

Looking back, that familiar scene reminds me of God’s faithful care throughout my life. There have been countless times when He has sheltered me from dangers I never saw, guided me away from unwise paths, strengthened me in seasons of weakness, and carried me through difficulties that seemed too great to bear. Much of His protection has gone unnoticed, known only to Him.

Just as we instinctively sought shelter from the rain, God invites us to find refuge in Him when life’s storms come. Whether we face fear, disappointment, uncertainty, or sorrow, His presence remains a place of peace, strength, and hope. He does not always remove the storm immediately, but He faithfully walks with us through it.

As you reflect on this familiar memory, give thanks for the many unseen ways God has been your shelter over the years. The God who has faithfully carried you through yesterday’s storms will also be with you in those yet to come. In His care, you can find rest, courage, and the quiet assurance that you are never alone.

Bible Verse:

God is our refuge and strength,

a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 46:1 WEB

Blessings:

I am blessed by a God who has faithfully sheltered, protected, and cared for me through every season of life.

Reflection Point:

Just as we find shelter from the rain, God offers us refuge in every season of life.

Reflection Question:

Can you recall a time when you later realised that God had been protecting, guiding, or carrying you through a difficult season?

Action to Consider for this week:

Think of someone who may be carrying a heavy burden. Take a moment to encourage them with a message, a call, or a prayer, becoming a small reflection of God’s sheltering care in their life.
