Week 4

Pink Flamingos

Watching the graceful pink flamingos wading through the water brings back memories of visiting the old Bird Park as a child. Many Singaporeans have stood quietly at the railing, fascinated by their elegant movements, their vibrant colours, and the way they seemed to thrive so effortlessly in their surroundings.

Back then, it was simply a happy family outing. I marvelled at God’s beautiful creation without realising that the Creator was quietly watching over my own life as well. While I admired the flamingos, God was faithfully guiding my steps, providing for my needs, shaping my character, and carrying me through seasons I had not yet experienced.

Today, those same flamingos remind me of a deeper truth. If God lovingly provides for the birds He created, how much more does He care for those made in His image? His care is not reserved for life’s extraordinary moments. It is revealed in the countless ordinary ways He faithfully provides, protects, guides, and sustains us each day.

As you reflect on this familiar scene, remember the many quiet ways God has cared for you throughout your life. The blessings may not always have been dramatic, but they have always been real. The God who faithfully watches over His creation has also been watching over you—and He will continue to do so with unfailing love.

Bible Verse:

See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?

Matthew 6:26 WEB

Blessings:

God’s blessings are continuous. He is faithful and will continue to provide for my needs, watch over my life, guide my steps, and care for me each day.

Reflection Point:

Watching the flamingos brings a smile to my heart, reminding me that the same God who cares for them has lovingly watched over me through every season of my life.

Reflection Question:

Take a moment to remember a season of your life. How was God caring for you then, even before you realised it?

Action to Consider for this week:

Take a walk and pay attention to God’s creation around you. As you reflect on the many ways He has faithfully cared for you throughout your life, thank Him for a blessing you may have overlooked. Then reach out to someone who has been part of God’s care—a family member, friend, mentor, or colleague—and thank them for the blessing they have been in your life.
