The religious leaders gathered together and began planning how they might arrest and kill Jesus. While they were plotting, Judas Iscariot came to them and asked, “What will you give me if I hand him over to you?” They were pleased and agreed to give him thirty pieces of silver. From that moment, he watched for an opportunity to betray Jesus.

Meanwhile, Jesus prepared to celebrate the Passover with his disciples. He sent Peter and John ahead, saying, “Go into the city. You will meet a man carrying a jar of water. Follow him to the house he enters, and say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ He will show you a large upper room. Prepare the meal there.”

They went and found everything exactly as Jesus had said, and they prepared the Passover meal.
