Peter & Cornelius Story

Cornelius, a Roman centurion who worshiped God, received a vision from an angel telling him to send for Peter in Joppa.

At the same time, Peter had a vision on a rooftop of a sheet containing all kinds of animals, with a voice telling him to eat. When Peter objected, the voice said, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” Soon after, messengers from Cornelius arrived, and the Spirit told Peter to go with them.

Peter went to Cornelius’ house, where many had gathered. He explained that God shows no favouritism and proclaimed the message of Jesus—His life, death, and resurrection—and the forgiveness of sins through faith in Him.

While Peter was speaking, the Holy Spirit came upon all who heard, including the Gentiles. Peter then ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

When news reached Jerusalem, some believers questioned Peter, but he explained how God had clearly worked among the Gentiles. They accepted that God had granted them repentance and life through Jesus as well.
