A Blind Man Sees Story

As Jesus and His disciples passed by, they saw a man who had been blind from birth. The disciples asked, “Teacher, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned. This happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Then Jesus spat on the ground, made clay with His saliva, and applied it to the man’s eyes. He told him, “Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam.” The man went, washed, and came back seeing.

His neighbours were astonished and questioned whether this was the same man who had once been blind. The man himself confirmed, “I am the one.”

When asked how he had received his sight, he told them what Jesus had done. They brought him to the Pharisees, where he again explained his healing.

Because it had happened on the Sabbath, the religious leaders were divided. Some said such a miracle could not come from God, while others questioned how a sinful man could perform such signs. They asked the man, “What do you say about Him?”

He replied, “He is a prophet.”

Still doubtful, they questioned his parents, but out of fear they avoided giving a clear answer and told them to ask their son.

So they questioned the man again, urging him to deny Jesus. But he boldly said, “One thing I know: I was blind, but now I see.”

Angered by his testimony, they cast him out of the synagogue.

Later, Jesus found him and asked, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”

The man replied, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?”

Jesus said, “You have now seen Him; He is the One speaking with you.”

Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped Him.
