After persecution began in Jerusalem, believers were scattered throughout the region, sharing the gospel wherever they went.
Philip went to Samaria and preached Christ. Through him, God performed miracles—evil spirits were cast out, and the sick were healed. Many people listened with joy and believed, including Simon, a former sorcerer who was baptised.
When the apostles heard of Samaria’s response, Peter and John came and prayed for the believers, who then received the Holy Spirit. Simon, amazed, offered money for this power, but Peter rebuked him, urging him to repent.
God then led Philip to the road from Jerusalem, where he met an Ethiopian official reading Scripture. Philip explained that it pointed to Jesus. The man believed and asked to be baptized. They stopped at water, and Philip baptized him.
Afterward, the Spirit carried Philip away, and he continued preaching in other places as the gospel spread further.
