The disciples gathered in Galilee, where Jesus appeared to them. They worshiped Him, and He said, “Go and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey all that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always.”
For forty days after His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His followers and taught them about the Kingdom of God. He was seen by many people, including more than five hundred at one time.
Before returning to heaven, Jesus led His disciples to the Mount of Olives. He told them, “Wait in Jerusalem for the gift of the Holy Spirit. You will receive power to be My witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
As He blessed them, Jesus was taken up into heaven and hidden by a cloud. While they looked on, two angels appeared and said, “This same Jesus, who has been taken into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go.”
Filled with joy, the disciples returned to Jerusalem. Together with the other believers, including Mary and Jesus’ brothers, they devoted themselves to prayer as they waited for the promised Holy Spirit.
