Jesus told his disciples another parable to explain the value of God’s kingdom.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field,” he said. “A man found it by surprise. When he discovered it, he hid it again, and full of joy he went and sold everything he owned. Then he bought that field, because the treasure in it was worth more than anything he had.”

He continued, “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one pearl of great value, he went and sold all he had and bought it.”

In both stories, Jesus showed that the kingdom of God is more valuable than anything else a person can possess. Those who truly recognize its worth are willing to give up everything else to have it.
