Jesus Calls His Disciples Story

One day, Jesus saw two brothers, Simon Peter and Andrew, casting a net into the sea. They were fishermen by trade. Jesus said to them, “Come, follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately, they left their nets and followed Him.

Going a little farther, He saw another pair of brothers, James and John, mending their nets with their father. Jesus called them, and they too left their boat, their father, and their work to follow Him.

Jesus continued along His journey and found Philip, saying simply, “Follow Me.” Philip obeyed and soon found his friend Nathanael, telling him, “We have found the One Moses and the prophets wrote about—Jesus of Nazareth.” Though Nathanael was doubtful at first, he came to see Jesus for himself and believed.

As more people encountered Jesus, He chose twelve men to be His close disciples. They came from ordinary backgrounds—fishermen, a tax collector, and others—yet Jesus called them to learn from Him, walk with Him, and be sent out with His authority.

He taught them, shaped their understanding, and showed them the heart of God. Through these disciples, the message of God’s kingdom would spread to the world.
