Week 37

Still

An elderly man sitting quietly beside a lake paints a beautiful picture of peace and quiet reflection. It may bring back memories of our parents or grandparents, who found contentment in life’s simple moments—watching the gentle ripples on the water, listening to the birds, or simply enjoying the peaceful company of a loved one. In a world that is always rushing, such moments invite us to slow down, breathe deeply, and treasure the quiet gifts God has placed around us.

Stillness is not the same as hopelessness. There are seasons when life becomes quieter, our pace slows, or our prayers seem to linger without immediate answers. Yet God is never absent in these moments. He often speaks most clearly when our hearts are still, assuring us that He is near and faithfully at work, even when we cannot yet see His hand.

One of God’s precious blessings is the gift of community. He surrounds us with family, friends, neighbours, and fellow believers whose presence reminds us that we are never forgotten. A thoughtful visit, a shared conversation, or simply sitting quietly with someone can become a gentle expression of God’s love and a source of renewed hope. Through these simple acts of companionship, we are reminded that God often comforts us through the caring presence of others.

Bible Verse:

Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.

Psalm 37:7 WEB

Blessings:

One of God’s quiet blessings is the gift of stillness. In those unhurried moments, He refreshes our souls, deepens our trust, and opens our eyes to the love of those He has placed around us. His presence reminds us that stillness is never hopeless, for He is always near.

Reflection Point:

Stillness can become a sacred place where we learn to trust God’s presence more deeply. Even when life feels quiet, He continues to hold us, guide us, and surround us with people who reflect His love.

Reflection Question:

Who in your community might be quietly longing for companionship or encouragement today?

Action to Consider for this week:

Spend time with someone who may be feeling lonely. Share a conversation over a cup of tea, take a gentle walk together, or simply sit and listen. Your unhurried presence may become God’s comforting reminder that they are loved and not alone.
