Isaac & Rebekah Story

After Sarah died, Abraham sent his servant to find a wife for Isaac from his homeland, instructing him not to choose a woman from nearby. The servant was worried about taking Isaac back there, but Abraham said it was unnecessary—the Lord would prepare the way. If the woman was unwilling to come, the servant was free from the task.

At a well in Abraham’s relatives’ town, the servant prayed for guidance. He decided to ask a woman for water, and if she offered to draw water for his camels too, she would be the one. Rebekah, a beautiful and virtuous young woman, came to the well. She kindly gave him water and then drew water for all his camels.

The servant recognised this as a sign from God. He gave her jewellery, asked about her family, and learned she was related to Abraham. Rebekah’s family welcomed him, and he shared how God led him to her through prayer. Laban, her brother, and her father agreed she should go with the servant to marry Isaac.

Rebekah agreed, and the next day, she left with the servant. Isaac was in the field when he saw the caravan approaching. Rebekah, upon seeing him, veiled herself. Isaac and Rebekah married, and their love was great.
