Abraham’s Call Story

Terah lived in Ur with his three sons and at least one daughter. One son had a son named Lot (Abram’s nephew) and another was Abram, who married Sarai, his half-sister. After Terah died, Abram was 75 and the Lord told him to leave his homeland and go to a land God would show him. God promised to make Abram’s name great and bless him and others through him, saying, “All nations will be blessed because of you.”

Abram took Sarai and Lot and travelled to Canaan, where God said, “This land is yours and your descendants.” Abram believed God and built an altar to worship Him, trusting His promise despite having no children. Later, a famine forced Abram to go to Egypt. He told Sarai to say she was his sister, fearing the Egyptians would kill him for her beauty. Pharaoh took Sarai into his house, thinking she was Abram’s sister. Abram became wealthy in Egypt, but God was angry because Sarai was taken. Plagues struck Pharaoh’s household, and Pharaoh realized the truth. He told Abram to take Sarai and leave Egypt. Abram, Sarai, and Lot returned to Canaan and settled near Bethel, where Abram worshiped the Lord.
